# Kenmore wall ovens

### What makes a wall oven its own appliance

Not the cooking — the installation. A wall oven is fixed into cabinetry, wired rather than plugged, and frequently stacked. Every one of those makes the diagnosis the easy half and the access the expensive half. It is why a wall oven page exists here separately from the range page, and why the figures on it sit higher for the same components.

### What a 790 wall oven is actually called out for

Wall ovens on this badge are Frigidaire-built, and the shortlist barely moves: the temperature sensor, the bake element, and a door lock that has stopped releasing after a self-clean cycle. Control boards do go, and on a built-in they stay worth repairing long after they would have lost that argument on a freestanding range — because a replacement has to fit a cut-out that already exists.

### Cabinetry is a constraint, not a detail

Replacing a built-in oven means matching a cut-out, and cut-outs have changed. That pushes the repair-or-replace line later on a wall oven than on almost anything else in the kitchen, and it is worth knowing before you decide.

### What we ask before we come

The model number, single or double, and whether anything is stacked above or below it. Those decide how many people arrive.

What we ask before we come

The model number, single or double, and whether anything is stacked above or below it. Those decide how many people arrive.

### Why does a wall oven cost more to repair than a range oven?

Because the appliance has to come out of the cabinetry and go back into it square, and on a double or a stacked installation that is two people and a lifting plan. The part is often identical to the one in a freestanding range. The time is not, and we would rather say that plainly than surprise you with it.

### It is out by twenty-five degrees. Can that be adjusted?

Often, yes. Most of these have a calibration offset in the control, and where the oven is consistently out by a fixed amount that is the right answer rather than a part. Where the error drifts, or the oven overshoots and undershoots, the temperature sensor is the usual cause and calibration will only hide it for a while.

### The self-clean cycle killed it.

It happens, and it is not folklore. A self-clean cycle runs the cavity far hotter than any cooking does, and it is where an ageing door lock, a tired thermal cut-off or a marginal control board tends to give up. If your oven is old and working, a self-clean is a real risk and a manual clean is the safer choice.
