### About dispenser and filter work

The six-month filter interval printed in the manual was written for softer water than most of this county has. What follows is always the same sequence: slow dispensing, then hollow or small ice, then an ice maker that looks like it has died. Catching it at the first stage is a cartridge and a flushed line; catching it at the third is a part. This job is priced just above the diagnostic floor on purpose, because preventive work that costs as much as a repair does not get booked and then the repair happens.

A partly frozen line in the door presents as a dribble that gets worse and better. It is not the valve and it is not the filter.

### Can I not just change the filter myself?

Often yes, and you should. This visit earns its place when a new cartridge does not fix it, because at that point the restriction is in the valve, the door line or the house supply, and those need measuring.

### Why is the water slow but the ice fine?

Because the two paths split after the fill valve. That difference is genuinely diagnostic and it usually points at the line in the door rather than at the supply.
