Error code
LG-built Kenmore dryer error code gAS
LG wrote this code, not Kenmore. On a dryer wearing this badge, gAS means: No gas supply. It is the only gas-specific code LG publishes for these dryers. Which model prefixes can raise it, and what to do next.

A code is only meaningful together with the machine showing it — the same digits mean different things on different equipment.

A dryer that turns but does not heat has a short list of causes, and which list depends on whether it is gas or electric. Telling us which you have on the phone means the right parts arrive on the first visit.
- Gas and electric fail in different places
- An electric dryer on one leg of supply does exactly this
- The vent is checked in the same visit, always

What else belongs to the dryers
On this make a code belongs to the appliance rather than to a product line. These are the other conditions this machine can display, and the models that can show this one — a display often has more than one thing to say, and the model number decides what any of it costs to put right.

About LG-built Kenmore dryer error code gAS
Whose code this actually is
Kenmore did not write gAS, because Kenmore has never built an appliance. This one is LG's, and it appears on the dryer that LG built and Sears sold under the Kenmore badge. Whirlpool, LG and Frigidaire all built dryers for this badge, and all three publish short two-character codes, so a lookup that skips the prefix is a coin toss dressed as an answer.
What it means
No gas supply. It is the only gas-specific code LG publishes for these dryers.
Which Kenmore models can raise it
The Kenmore dryer whose model number begins 796 — the three digits before the period on the rating plate. Those digits are LG's, which is why LG's table is the one that applies to gAS and no other manufacturer's does.
What happens next
- Check the gas valve behind the machine is open, and that other gas appliances in the house are working.
- If the supply is good, the igniter or the valve coils are next, and that is licensed work.
Where this usually goes
The job this most often becomes is diagnostic visit, and that page carries a starting figure and the reasons that move it. A Kenmore dryer in South Florida is almost always on a long horizontal duct carrying humid air, and that duct is behind more heat and airflow codes here than any component inside the machine. Photograph the display before you cut the power: a reset clears gAS, and on a Kenmore the characters plus three digits off the plate are most of the diagnosis.
Where this meaning came from
LG's own documentation: LG Help Library — error code lists. Kenmore publishes none of its own, which is why every entry on this site names the manufacturer's document instead.
