Repair cost
Kenmore OEM cross reference and parts sourcing cost
The line that exists on this site and on no other in this fleet. On a badge-engineered appliance the part is ordered against the number of the company that built it, not against the Kenmore number, and on a discontinued unit that lookup is what decides whether the repair is possible at all.
- From $95 diagnostic, credited to the repair
- 59 cities and neighborhoods covered
- OEM parts available on order
- In writing the price, before anything is opened

What moves it
Why two of the same job cost different amounts
These apply at the same time and in both directions. Which of them is true of your kitchen is what the on-site diagnostic settles.
-
How old the appliance is
A current unit cross-references in minutes. A twenty-year-old one can take real work, because the builder has renumbered the component twice and retired it once since it left the factory.
-
Which company built it
Whirlpool-built and Frigidaire-built parts are generally well catalogued and widely stocked. LG-built components are catalogued differently and the equivalences are less obvious. A Broan hood and a Roper range are the thin end of this.
-
Whether the number on the plate is complete
The dotted form on the rating plate is the whole number, and people habitually read out the part before the period. A partial number cross-references to several machines and settles nothing.
-
How many components are in the question
Pricing one board is a lookup. Establishing what is still available for an appliance before you decide whether to keep it is a small piece of research, and it is worth having before you spend anything.
-
Whether an equivalent exists at all
Sometimes the answer is that the component is genuinely gone and no substitute fits. That is a finding rather than a failure, and it is frequently the most useful thing we can tell somebody about an older appliance.
The work itself
What we actually do
The job behind the figure: what it involves, when a symptom points at it, and what we check first.
-
from $95 OEM cross reference and parts sourcing
The job that only exists on a badge-engineered appliance. A Kenmore part number is not the part number the factory used, and on a discontinued unit the difference decides whether the repair is possible at all. We cross-reference the Kenmore number to the builder's own number and tell you plainly whether the part is current, superseded or gone.
- The builder's part number, not the badge's
- Superseded numbers traced rather than guessed
- An honest answer when a part no longer exists
In more detail
About Kenmore OEM cross reference and parts sourcing cost
Why a Kenmore part number is not the number the factory used
Sears catalogued these appliances under its own numbering, and the companies that built them catalogued the same components under theirs. Both numbers are real and they refer to the same object. The difficulty arrives when one of the two catalogs stops carrying it — which happens first on the badge side, because a badge that no longer sells appliances has no reason to maintain a parts list.
What this changes about an older repair
It changes the order of the conversation. On most appliances you establish what is wrong and then price the part. Here, on anything with age on it, it is worth establishing that the part can be had before anybody spends money finding out precisely which one it is. We would rather do that lookup first and tell you the repair is not available than diagnose it beautifully and then discover the same thing.
The result you are paying for
A component identified under the builder's own number, its availability confirmed, and where it is gone, whether anything current substitutes for it. Where the appliance turns out to be supportable, the lookup is credited into the repair like any other diagnostic work.

Questions about Kenmore OEM cross reference and parts sourcing cost
Why is this a line item rather than part of every repair?
Because on this badge it is real work with a real chance of a negative result, and burying it inside every other figure would mean everybody pays for it whether their appliance needed it or not. Most current units never need this line at all.
Can you just tell me if the part still exists?
That is exactly what this is. Send the full number from the plate, including everything after the period, and say which component you are asking about. If it is a short lookup we will often answer without charging for it.
