Kenmore washer drain pump replacement
A drum full of water at the end of a cycle. What the machine tells you about it depends entirely on who built it: an LG-built 796 usually names a drain problem on the display, while a Whirlpool-built 110 of the same age may simply stop. Same repair, two very different phone calls.
- From $95 diagnostic, credited to the repair

How this visit actually goes
The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.
-
01
Ask what the display showed
Before it stopped, not after. On an LG-built machine that single detail can shorten the visit considerably.
-
02
The filter or coin trap
Where the machine has one. A sock, a coin or a hairgrip stops a perfectly good pump, and this is the first place to look.
-
03
The drain hose and the standpipe
Kinked, too high, or pushed too far into the pipe. All three produce the same complaint with nothing broken.
-
04
Test the pump
Continuity and whether it is receiving a signal. A pump getting no signal is a control problem, and replacing the pump changes nothing.
-
05
Drain and spin, watched
A full drain and spin before we leave, with the water going where it should.

Top-load and front-load · 110 and 796 Kenmore washer repair in Miami
Laundry is where the decode matters most, because a Kenmore washer can be a Whirlpool, an an LG, and those are two genuinely different machines. A 110 and a 796 do not share a pump, a control board, a diagnostic sequence or a code table, and they do not fail the same way. The model number is not a formality on this appliance — it is the difference between the right visit and the wrong one.
- 110 is Whirlpool-built, 796 is LG-built
- Drain, spin and leaks are most of what we see
- Two washers under one badge, and two code tables

About Kenmore washer drain pump replacement
About drain pumps on a 110 and a 796
A 110 is a Whirlpool and a 796 is an LG, and they are genuinely different washers wearing one badge. The drain pump on each is an inexpensive, widely held component, which is why the figure does not move between them — what moves is the route to it, how much comes off, and how much water reaches the floor first. Most of these are an obstruction rather than a failure: coins, buttons, hairpins, screws and underwires, in roughly that order. A pump that has been working against one for weeks is usually damaged anyway, which is why slow draining is worth acting on early.

Questions about Kenmore washer drain pump replacement
It drains slowly rather than not at all.
That is a partial obstruction, and it is the moment to deal with it. A pump made to work against a restriction for months will fail, and then you are paying for both.
Should I open the coin trap myself?
On machines that have an accessible one, yes, and it is often the whole repair. Have a shallow tray and more towels than you think you need.
