Kenmore range hood blower and light repair
A hood that has gone quiet, gone loud, or lost its light. These are the simplest appliances in the kitchen and among the most repairable — a blower, a switch, a lamp and a filter — and a large share of the complaints are about the duct rather than the hood.

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

01
Ducted or recirculating
A recirculating hood was never going to move steam out of the room. This answers more complaints than any repair does and it costs nothing to establish.
-
02
Filters
Loaded grease filters make a hood louder, weaker and harder on its motor. Most are dishwasher-safe and this is free to fix.
-
03
The duct and the damper
Airflow at the outlet, and a damper flap that actually opens. Painted-shut dampers are common.
-
04
The blower
Impeller cleaned and balanced before the motor is condemned. Grease loading explains most hood noise.
-
05
Switch lamp and wiring
A hood with a working light and a dead fan has power arriving, which points squarely at the switch or the motor.

Under-cabinet and chimney · ducted and recirculating Kenmore range hood repair in Miami
Under-cabinet and chimney hoods, and this is the one appliance on the badge with a ventilation specialist behind it — the 233 prefix is Broan. There is not much to a hood: a motor, a switch, a lamp and a path for the air. Which is why most of what we are called about turns out to be the duct or the filters rather than the hood.
- 233 is Broan-built — a ventilation maker, not an appliance one
- Most complaints are the duct or the filters
- Recirculating hoods cannot extract, by design

About Kenmore range hood blower and light repair
About range hood repairs
This is the least complicated appliance on the site — a motor, a switch, a lamp and a path for the air — and 233 is a Broan, a ventilation maker rather than an appliance one. Most hood calls resolve to one of four things and none takes long once somebody is in front of it. Where the money goes is into reaching it: a hood is above head height by definition, and a chimney unit over an island is a job with a ladder and a second pair of hands. On a recirculating hood a saturated filter stops the appliance doing anything useful while the blower runs perfectly.

Questions about Kenmore range hood blower and light repair
The fan runs but nothing gets extracted.
Filter first on a recirculating hood, duct second on a ducted one. A blower turning against a blocked path is a common and unglamorous answer.
Is a hood worth repairing?
Often, particularly a chimney or island hood where replacing it means dealing with ducting and cabinetry. On a basic under-cabinet unit the arithmetic is closer and we will say so.
